I've gone here often for Breakfast and I have to say I'm definitely not disappointed! From Eggs to pancakes the best in the area! Great service also!
Good place, clean, good food, good service
With an exception little noise on tv's
I got rain forest tuna it was excellent, I got garlic knots very good and their menu very extend there is something for every one.
I've been to this dinner a couple times. The food and service is always excellent. The chili is possibly the best I've ever had and that's from someone who lived in Texas for 2 years. I have had it as take out more then once.
Best omelettes in the area by far...good value
Good diner, good food, all-in-all I like this place and have been here many dozens of times.
However, one thing that erk's me to no end is that you ALWAYS have to track someone down to get your check. They NEVER give you your check unless you waive them down. Annoying when you just want to eat and get up to leave. Must be a policy here, but not a good one! So ask for your check when they deliver the food.
Visiting my senior parents in this area, we are always on the lookout for a spot that is good, friendly, and not too expensive, but offers delicious food. I was not excited when they told me this diner had new management and was excellent. I stand corrected. Their menu had such diverse sandwiches, wraps, melts, and paninis. I had a chicken avocado sandwich (which I asked for grilled, rather than fried-no problem) with the freshest roll, juicy chicken breast, and a ton of fresh avocado. It had chipotle mayo, which thankfully I ordered on the side (as it was a bit to spicy for my taste). The fries were tasty and crisp. I tasted my mother's shrimp Parmesan sandwich and couldn't believe how full of shrimp it was, and again, the freshness of the roll. She has had it 4 times in a row and loved it every time. My dad had the chicken Parmesan and it was equally satisfying. Both parents were watching their sodium and asked for a French fries substitute, as they were pre-seasoned. They got delicious baked potatoes in exchange. (Possibly adding salt-free fries in the future would be helpful, given the clientele in the area).
The service was friendly and spot on and the establishment was clean. I truly hope they get busy and stay in business. It was so nice to have a break from City Streets & the Americana.
My wife and I have been coming here since they opened as the Town Diner, it was good, then it got a little iffy for a while and now it is FANTASTIC!!!! Best diner in Mercer county and it is not even close. I hate to admit it, but we eat here probably twice a week, once on the way home from work and we always have breakfast there over the weekends. Everything is delicious but I have to recommend the Ultimate Fritatta( shrimp and artichokes, may not sound good but it is DELICIOUS!), the Salmon Benedict, their Rubens are the best around. Also they have started having dinner specials during the week and they have added snapper to the specials every once in a a while, its been cooked a few different ways and each of them has been wonderful.
I highly recommend this place for breakfast lunch or dinner if you are in the area.
After a 5k, we were starving and looking for something local to try. We were really craving a nice salad, so finding this diner was perfect.
The place was busy, but not too bad. However, there were so many tables crammed into one space that it was hard to walk anywhere without squeezing yourself between furniture. I have no idea what servers do with those large trays of food when they are slammed.
Menu was good and large, also creative. Our server was nice, prompt and followed our order to the T. Our food was good, quite pricy considering what was in it, but still satisfying. We were able to get in and out in a nice time which is one of the things that's nice about a good diner.
Great breakfast spot! The wait staff are very friendly and always recognize regular customers. You'll also never wait long for your food to arrive.
I'm really impressed with this restaurant. Everything is fresh and delicious - the bread, salad, soup, dessert and main dish.
Excellent customer service too!
We decided to try Town Diner after watching its identity change.
It was, at one time, the Clairmont, where we dined many times. The Town Diner is tastefully
and comfortably refurbished. We were told it had been renovated
as a steak house that did not succeed. We were especially happy
with the chairs at the tables, which were nicely padded and comfortable. Overall the ambience is a cut above your average
New Jersey Diner. However, they have avoided developing delusions of grandeur: their menu is not hotsy totsy and has many of the items we have come to expect and love.
One of us had fish and chips that were fresh-tasting and crisp.
Instead of fries, we requested a substitution of mashed potatoes. They were delicious.
On the slightly negative side, the rolls were ruined by
the unnecessary application of salt, and the obligatory cup of cole slaw was on the soggy side.
The other of us had the Fisherman's roll, which had a beautiful
piece of well broiled and fresh-tasting salmon. We asked for
something as a substitute for the potatoes, and received, instead, a generous and crisp salad.
Our server was friendly, timely, and knowledgeable. Based on
this experience we recommend the place strongly. This is a lovely, clean place. We'll be back.
This building just re-opened as the Town Diner. Have been twice for breakfast.
Very impressed. Clean, great service and delicious good quality food. Have a good menu with a lot of selections.
Was really pleased after coming in, ordered penne vodka and matzah ball soup. Came with my mom for Mother's Day and she was very pleased. Had a server named nick and he was absolutely amazing. I really recommend coming here and getting one of the pastas. Definitely will be coming back!
I've gone here 5-7 times already and keep forgetting to post, this place is a great diner. The staff, food, atmosphere and price. This has become my pop in place inbetween my travels to and from the turnpike.
Food was really good. Restaurant was clean. Popular with the locals. We went away satisfied.
This diner was a perfect place to stop on our vacation travels home to CT. We found it by accident avoiding traffic and we were pleasantly surprised and pleased with the service, food and atmosphere. The patrons as well as the staff were all very nice.
We accidentally left behind our young son's brand new souvenir hat and since we were on the way home to CT, we couldn't return to retrieve it. We called on the off chance that they would have found it and as soon as I explained our predicament, the woman on the phone offered to mail it out to me right away. I thanked her and several days later the hat arrived in the mail! What a small but wonderful way to be kind! We will certainly recommend this diner to anyone and will try to return if our travels ever take us back that way.
It's very confusing why there are several listings on this website for Town Diner. I have no quarrels writing a five star review for all these listings. It seems like a few people have had an overall drastic different experience than my wife and I have had here. I don't try to be a compulsive reviewer, but our experience was so amazing, that I feel compelled to share it again and again. I honestly could not say that I would do the same thing for 90% of the places that I've been to. That's because we were treated so great by the staff at Town Diner, that we could never forget it. The day before our wedding, my wife decided to share a breakfast together. We had only been to Town Diner once before, but we knew that we wanted to stay local. Our waiter was a humble and generous man, who genuinely had an interest in our lives. He served my wife and I complimentary mimosas, and took about ten minutes just talking to us about everything. That just ment the world to us. The cost for a meal here is definitely not as expensive as many people have alluded to. They are on the par with just about any sit down dining service, and it's absurd to suggest that they're expensive. Their food is prepared fast, fresh, and always delicious. And we have tried their breakfasts, lunches and dinners.
We were recommended to try this diner by family. So in the mood for a diner experience, we came in the other night. We got seated fairly quickly. Our waiter Nick was very helpful and attentive with drink refills. I had the chicken francaise and my husband had roast turkey breast. We both had chicken rice soup. I loved that it was chock full of veggies, chicken and rice in a nice broth. We also had fresh bread instead of garlic knots. My chicken was very nice and pounded thin with a light coating, great lemon sauce and the asparagus was perfectly cooked. Hubby enjoyed his turkey. However it didn't stand out for him. I would like to try a seafood dish and salad another time. Umfortunately they were out of cheesecake. . A diner staple. While they are selling their liquor license they may want to expand their dessert menu.
So if the Americana Diner (in East Windsor) is "not a diner anymore".....then this is your place. Hope this place "sticks" this go around......as it has turned hands over and over again.
My dinner/food was very good.....has a bar too.
Update- no more liquor license!
I'm glad this place reopened and is still great for a good meal. I haven't had a problem with service, though I don't usually go during peak hours. The one time we had to wait to be seated, the funny waiter (should catch his name next time) explained that it was due to the weather (rain = beach plans ruined = everyone goes to the diner) and even warned us that ordering certain things would take longer in case we did not want to stay long. He also suggests when we should stop ordering so we don't feel gross and full at the end of the meal. I typically go for pancakes which are a generous serving portion and delicious. The sausage or bacon on the side are tasty and fruits inside are not mush. I love their fries! Other meals are good too and I'll definitely go back.
Service was great! Food was fresh. Went here for breakfast and was vegetarian friendly. Coffee was good! Would recommend to friends and family ! I will be back !
First time here, usually go to Americana. The omelettes and salads were on par with Americana. But enjoy bread more at latter diner. Town Diner has much better access to ramp for walker.
We eat here all the time- great diner food, excellent service, friendly people.
I had the Avocado Madness sandwich, for breakfast! It was a delicious vegetarian option. I also had the Pretty Woman fresh squeezed carrot, beet, orange & pineapple juice, so I am energized for the day! Great service from Raphael.
I choose to go to town diner above the other diners in the area simply because of the unique menu. No where else have I ever seen French toast coated in a cereal of your choice or a muffaletta burger. As an added bonus to the creative menu options, the service is always quick and they're much nicer and friendlier here than other diners I've been to.
The diner is very nicely updated inside. The menu is very extensive. There are so many dishes I would like to try. The breakfast specials are very reasonably priced the portions were large and very tasty.
Friendly staff.. great breakfast..
Ok. Great food,,very good price
This place has become amazing lately. I had some pumpkin pancakes and they were willing to customize them with chocolate chips! The presentation was really good and the food tasted amazing. The portion was big enough that I could share it with my friend and still be full ! My boyfriend got a huevos rancheros breakfast and he loved it too !
I loved their breakfast items. Staff is always pleasant and prices are reasonable unlike another dinner down the road
Classic diner. Really brings back the old school feel. Prices are very reasonable and nice sized portions. Everything I've had there has been pretty good! Definitely my local diner of choice compared to others around town. Clean and pleasant atmosphere. Only issue is it should be open later, especially on weekends. Diners are meant for late night stops...not shut down at 10pm.
For all you town diner haters, we had a wonderful meal with great service. My omelette was one of the best ever! Very generous serving sizes. When we travel to New Jersey, we think of diners and tonight's meal happily met the mark! ...the garlic bread balls were a nice lagniappe.
Great diner for brunch. The outside decor felt very unique. Came here for Sunday brunch with about 20 people from out of town, the service and food were all really great. Good food options that included vegetarian selection. Portion sizes are huge and the food was ready fast. I enjoyed my turkey club omelet and would recommend!
Went for breakfast brunch after a wedding. Really good food and service.
Diners are usually not my first choice when going out to eat. I'm not a big breakfast person, and if I want something casual it's very easy to cook it myself. The times that I have gone have more to do with convenience than personal preference. But.....diners have come a long way in the last several years. To compete for their share of the market, many have tweaked menus and added healthy and sometimes local options. Next to their meatloaf special you might be surprised to find a red snapper with risotto. Such seems to be the case for this well established business.
Instead of playing it safe and ordering a sandwich or other comfort food, I did a Hail Mary and ordered seafood . I'm very particular with fish, and am not always satisfied even at much nicer joints. But on a brutally hot day, simple flounder seemed a good idea. After a standard but fresh house salad, my platter arrived and looked very good. It contained a decent and seemingly non dehydrated mashed potato, very good fresh mixed veggies( each item was cooked al dente and lightly seasoned with just a hint of garlic) and gently broiled flounder. This fish was as good as you can get anywhere, not overcooked or seasoned and no trace of chemical preservatives or having ever been frozen.
Will other options on their menu be equally good? It's hard to say, but that's the issue I have with diners to begin with. Other meals going by looked and smelled good, and they seem to have a loyal and somewhat aging clientele. I plan on returning to try other things, but it will be hard to pass on the dish I just had.
My favorite diner in the area. Eggs with authentic corn beef hash is a hit! Best liver and onions. Had excellent corn beef and cabbage here before. I go here atleast once a week. Entrees are fairly priced. I like the service and friendliness of the staff. Have become a regular!
This is still our "go to" diner in this area. Good food, friendly and prompt service and a generally nice atmosphere. My only complaint is that there are just too many TVs on and the majority of them are tuned into one station that has it's own political agenda. If you must put on political commentary how about another channel with an opposite view to be fair to all your customers particularly in this election season.
typical diner food with great prices and great service
Whoever is operating this Diner ... Please stick around!! It's what we need on Rt 130!!! A real diner for real people. The Benedict selection is nuts.. Love the salmon Benedict with lox and tzatziki sauce... Home fries always nice n crispy. Cornmeal pancakes will blow your mind and may I suggest the jersey burger for breakfast. Pork roll egg n cheese on a hamburger with one of their freshly pressed juices will cure your hangover. Friendly staff and a nice selection of apps makes you happy. Bring back the Mr Beans omelette!! Nobody would order it but it was great to see it on the menu !!
While on vacation was great place to eat. Cheap for the type of food and nice environment.
This diner has it all. Great food at a reasonable price. They can fix together the standard diner specialties, but they also have some very unique items like deep fried French toast, and a breakfast burrito called the Big Fat Cat that's essentially one of everything on the menu rolled into one plate. The portions are well-sized, too, and the food is much cheaper and better than any other diner around town.
Good food. Excellent service. Better than the average diner. Staff is friendly. I had a party of 10 and they gave us a nice table in the back.
From out of town. Great service, Kathi. Great food. Soup was so good, bought some to take back to hotel
Okay I normally don't bounce from high to low to high stars again BUT... it wasn't the food that was my issue not by long shot. Their food is still delicious it was the service and management. So after several visits with friends and family I have noticed they have gotten either new help or a stern talking too. Whatever the case may be they waitresses I've had the last several times have been point on. Tonight I had Jess she was perfect. Didn't have to ask for much and when I did she was quick there. I have to say I had their cream of turkey soup and it was one of the best I've had in a very long time. Not too thick and not watery chunks of turkey and veggies and parsley. Flavors was awesome didn't need salt or pepper..nothing. not even crackers. I had my standard BCHB. Which was perfect n juicy as always. So with that being said I will be back..
The staff was friendly. The food was reasonably priced and portions were good. We enjoyed the visit from out of town. Would definitely go again when we visit family.
We drive past this place all the time and decided to try it because of all the reviews. We were very happy with our food. I got a lunch sized chicken parm meal which came with soup. The chicken and rice soup was very good. The chicken parm was tender and the marinara sauce was very good. My husband got breakfast. Pancakes were yummy. He got eggs, home fries and toast, which were good. The food came out super fast. Our waitress was ok. That's why I gave it a 4 and not a 5. We will definitely be back.
Amazing place. Great atmosphere, great service. Prices were reasonable and the food was excellent. 5 stars because it offers takeout.
Our favorite area diner. Everything has been consistently good. We've been going there since their reopening after the Windsor Grande Cafe culinary failure. Now it's just good, classic diner food as well as some fancier fare. Good prices. Great service as well. Chocolate cheesecake is simply amazing!!! Unlike their competitor down the road, Town Diner has hard/Kaiser rolls for my pork roll and cheese sandwich...and they're really good rolls too, LOL.
The best diner in NJ
Pretty good food. Their Cuban panini is excellent with onion rings. Food taste fresh and isn't deli meat!! The only turn off for me was one of the young waitresses talking about how Bernie Sanders is going to put her through school and if she could only keep Obama in office. Very young and immature unintellectual conversation between two employees. Otherwise my meal was very good.
We go here instead of americana because the food is more relaxed american diner style. Always had a problem with the way they make their potatoes but everything else I've eaten here for breakfast has been good. I had a gido plate and greek plate. The gido plate had bratwurst with eggs and veggies and the greek plate has feta cheese with eggs and veggies.
The food is excellent and the service too!, I can feel a very relaxed atmosphere full of laugh and smiles. Is a perfect place to eat and share with the family. I had made many big reservations for my family and I, we never had made any complain about anything, because is simply nice and perfect. I'm in love with the food and the place in general.
Outstanding!!! best diner around, a new owner new menu and new cooks. never had any bad food. everything is great and prices are diner prices and so are the portions. FU Americana. your days are numbered now.
Always a great place to meet friends. Service is good and the food is usually good.
The food is excellent at Town Diner. This family owned local establishment has a huge selection and the prices are very fair. Especially when you consider that their portions are generous. This is a good place to bring your family for diner or work associates for lunch during the week.
Pleasantly surprised at how good this was. Always complain there is no where to eat in EW. Definitely a great option with many menu items and straight up good diner food.
Great under the new owners. Food is good, prices are just right for a diner and they have a variety of choices.
This place seems to change owners every two years or so. While I've had less than favorable experiences in the past, the current incarnation of this diner is all around decent. They have a moderately sized but well varied menu and the food was better than average. I've gotten only take out so far but from the limited interactions I've had with the staff, they seemed inexperienced but their friendliness and effort more than made up for it.
My family and I always go here because the staff is so friendly, we normally get our usual waitress, Courtney, and she knows by now what I want to order. The first time I got her, she was so easy to joke around with and she remembered us then on. I would recommend getting the hot chocolate, it's really good. If you ever go there, please ask for Courtney and have hospitality towards the staff. ~Yours Strongly, Chloe
Everything is amazing. We might be driving back down from north jersey just to go here. Highlights include fresh squeezed juice creations and cornbread pancakes!!! The best. 5 stars all the way!
I was here on 12/26/15, along with my husband and several other people. Most of us had burgers. I had a turkey burger, hold the roll (I'm gluten sensitive), I believe it was Mexicali style. It was the best turkey burger I ever ate, cooked perfectly and the fries were also very good. Our waitress was very attentive and brought exactly what we ordered. I will be back again very soon.
I have become a regular here and will continue to be. Words cannot express the love I have for their bacon cheeseburgers. They are so well seasoned and flavorful. My son even left the ketchup off of it bc it doesn't need it. I ventured in there today for a late lunch. I chose the grilled veggie wrap which I was leary on bc so many places kinda just throw them together on a thick wrap and most of the time the veggies listed aren't even on there. Well To my surprise this wrap was out of this world chock full of zucchini, portabello mushrooms, onions, tomatoes, spinach and fresh mozzarella with a balsamic vinegarette. My company ordered the same thing and we both finished them delicious!!! The matzoh ball soup which I had a cup of was nice and soft and the broth was not salty. We ordered a slice of plain cheesecake and this piece was so large it would've taken 3 people to finish it. It was so light, airy and creamy. Mmmm. Even the Cole slaw is awesome, it's crunchy and not drowning in any mayo. Definitely must check it out. I was looking at the omelets and pancakes and can't wait to try them. Although the home fries don't look that good..we shall see..till next time.
I definitely prefer this diner over Americana. The prices are far more reasonable, they have a huge variety, and it still feels like a diner. The food has always been tasty and comes out fairly quick... However, the servers are usually pretty slow when it comes to checking on customers, delivering the bill, etc.
The Clairmont diner is a very friendly place. The food is great and so is the service. The Clairmont has a great menu that can accomodate every member of the family.
Very happy customer
I like to take my family to the Clairmont diner. There's something for everyone, the food is great and I can relax and enjoy. My boys are big eaters and they always leave satisfied! We've gotten to know the staff and they are all very polite and helpful. We've made the Clairmont a regular on our list.
Our Favorite Diner in Central NJ
Our favorite diner in Central NJ, and only a few minutes from Exit 8 of the NJ Turnpike.
Service very friendly
Cup of soup offered with lunch Italian meat minestrone very good
I ordered the Dynasty sandwich Roast Beef with Brown gravy and American cheese I would recommend my wife ordered the Greek wrap good but dressing should be on the side. The kids meals of chicken fingers and fries were real handmade. I will be back
Marion T. This is our "go to" diner in the area. Their delicious breakfasts are a great start to the day and the rest of the menu offers something for everyone. It's very clean with a friendly and attentive staff particularly Alberto. It's nice to have a REAL diner in that spot again!
Welcome to a true New Jersey diner! Hash browns- perfect! Omlet- perfect! Fresh pressed juice bar- perfect! The Town Diner remains an unspoiled New Jersey classic diner. Great menu and good service also lend to its charm. Do yourself a favor and take the ride down rt 130!
Bar none, BEST Diner I've been to yet!
Their menu has a wide variety of options for each category. I've only been here for brunch. My favorite dishes have been their Egg Benedicts, which they have around 7 different kinds. If Eggs Benedict isn't your thing, try their Big Cat (Think McGriddle but wrapped in a tortilla). They also have a wide juice selection!
Perfect portions, phenomenal food, great atmosphere. Can't wait to try this place out for lunch and dinner someday!
This place has great food and service. Excellent value and fresh, quality food. This is my favorite diner in the area. If you haven't been here in a while, you should try it!
Breakfast, Lunch or Diner... all equally as good!
Wonderful, friendly and efficient service and food at breakfast. You may ask for sauted spinach instead of potatoes or grits and it is delicious.
Good value as well.
Did 3 of us just eat dinner for $46? Great burgers, awesome soup and cakes for dessert.
This is one of the best diners around! I have eaten here for breakfast and lunch several times and have yet to have a bad meal! The staff is always very efficient and friendly. The place is relatively clean and comfortable. I recommend the burgers and pancakes, two of my favorites from here! Some stuff is a little pricey here but not as much as their competitors down the street! Great place will continue to come here.
The staff is great, service is quick and friendly and their garlic knots are my addiction! Everytime I visit I try something different and its always delicious. This has become our weekly spot for family dinner.
Really pleased with everything about my experience at this place. The service was fast and friendly. The omelette I had was excellent... honestly, as good as any I've ever had. The orange juice was freshly squeezed and delicious. In the past, this place and it's previous incarnations have always played second fiddle to the Americana in East Windsor, but the Americana is not what it used to be and Town Diner has really stepped it up. There are many diner options in NJ, but for me, this was a step above on every level.
Service and atmosphere:
I have been to this diner more than a few times, including before its most recent change into this version of the diner. I really liked the food bars from the previous iteration, but I do not miss them much.
What I like most about Town Diner is the style of the service. Each of the waitstaff have a bubbly, friendly personality that they give you a glimpse of. My servers have been friendly, quick witted, and funny there. I always feel well-served. I also love the people watching and community interactions I've observed there. I would not go so far as to call it an old-world cafe, but there is definitely a vibe of community and creativity there.
If I have a complaint it's this: Too many TVs, wrong content for diner viewers (politics), and the music station (we typically get seated under the easy-listening music speaker competing with the TV speakers).
I should learn to ask to have it turned down or off when we are among the few participants.
Everyone who goes can try the complimentary garlic knots. Such a simple thing: give hungry people something delicious to munch on. I think every time I have decided to go there, it was in no small part to those garlic knots - soft, warm, fresh, pretzel-like, full of garlic butter and salt. The free serving for two was 12 knots. A feast in itself.
And the coffee is very good.
The pancakes (about 10 varieties) are legit crack. I'm not sure if I prefer the cornbread style cakes or the multigrain cakes, but either of them will do - fluffy, flavorful, texturally satisfying, and never too sweet.
I have also had their Monte Cristo, the jersey diner staple for the truly decadent - real turkey and ham with cheese on french toast with a side of syrup. It's a truly elevated ham and cheese. They do it well, and I have a hard time not liking a kitchen that handles the dish with care (e.g. real turkey breast, carved).
I have also had their desserts -- a black forest cake or chocolate cream pie comes to mind as a standout. Well done jersey diner style desserts. You have to get the baking right, and they do.
The menu is huge, but I have no doubt that I will continue to try and enjoy the rest of their offerings. Reasonable prices for diner fare, served very well. Well done, friends.
First time here. I have to admit it was quite awesome. The menu is truly extensive, that's why it took us soooo long to decide what we wanted...ugh. .the decisions..decisions..we started out with fried calamari. It was good but could've been crisper and the oil at the bottom was yucky. I ordered a bacon cheeseburger omg so moist, juicy and flavorful. Did not even need ketchup or anything. Perfect size wasn't too big. My friend order disco fries and a breakfast energy egg white burrito which came with fresh fruit. The disco fries with awesome they brought me back to the good old diner days. The server was okay not awesome but she was patient when we couldn't decide on what we wanted. This diner is quite spacious and had a huge dining room. Bathrooms are clean and kept nice. I can't wait to go back and try other things definitely an add in my space to eat out. Alot of selections on special dietary needs also. Salad menu was also extensive and they also offer juice smoothies fresh. If you haven't been there definitely worth a check in..
